Nukeproof offers bikes for downhill, enduro, trail and gravel. Full suspension and fixed frame. In addition, components and clothing. The brand is constantly evolving and is proud of its history. Nukeproof is made by "riders for riders".

HISTORY

The spiritual father of Nuke Proof Industries is John Muenzenmeyer, who founded the brand in 1990 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. In the early 1990s, he set out to create a product that was attractive, innovative and reliable enough to meet the demands of customers in the emerging mountain bike market.

Nuke Proof Industries pioneered the design using exotic materials such as titanium and carbon fiber. In its early days, the company was primarily known for its carbon-aluminum hubs.

Nuke Proof Industries went on to produce titanium frames, carbon fiber handlebars and other innovative components. The brand was represented at races by athletes like James Bethea.

After the boom in the US mountain bike market, the market declined dramatically and Nuke Proof Industries began to struggle to survive. In 2004, long-time admirer of the brand - Northern Irish DH rider Michael Cowan - decided to take his chance and save the brand. Gradually, he began acquiring trademarks in order to revive the iconic brand. As a successful and influential racer, Michael formed a product development team of experienced and passionate riders.

In 2007, Nukeproof launched its first products - titanium springs. These were shortly followed by the 760mm and 800mm gravity handlebars, which were a rare sight at the time due to their width.

NUKEPROOF MEGA AND SCALP

The development of Nukeproof frames was then conceived with race use in mind. The desire of the Nukeproof team was to develop a longer, lighter and more capable bike for the famous Mega - Avalanche race. This led to three years of development leading to the Nukeproof Mega frame.

At the same time, former downhill world champion Nigel Page set out to build a Chain Reaction Cycles-Intense team with which to compete in the World Downhill Championships.

Early on, Nigel decided to work with the Nukeproof brand to develop components that met his team's exacting standards. As a result, the components were tested and ridden by riders at the highest level.

At the 2010 Interbike show in Las Vegas, Michael and Nigel had already decided that the time was right to design and race their own brand of bike. This paved the way for the development of the first downhill frame, the Nukeproof: Scalp.

Today, with numerous UCI Downhill World Cup and Enduro World Series wins, Nigel and his race team are integral to the development of new Nukeproof components and bikes.

SAM HILL

The most famous star of the team, which also develops its own line of components in cooperation with Nukeproof, is Sam Hill, a star of the world downhill and enduro. The products developed bear his signature (Sam Hill Signature Series).

Sam has been racing at the highest level since he was 16 years old. He won 5 x downhill world championship titles before joining the Enduro World Series (EWS). He has worked closely with the Nukeproof brand since 2014.

Currently Nukeproof products are designed and developed in Belfast, Northern Ireland. They are sold through selected independent bike retailers around the world including us at Bikeporn.
